The Toy Shop, Cockermouth

Mr and Mrs Chippendale had previously installed flood resilience measures on their toy shop in Cockermouth, following flood damage from 2009 flooding in Cumbria. As a result, the flood event created by storm Desmond and storm Eva only meant the store was closed for a matter of days in contrast to the 6 months prior to the store reopening in 2009. It is clear that this resilience approach can therefore have positive results for UK homes and businesses that have been affected by flooding in the past. Read more.
