On Wednesday 27th April 2017 the Annual Resilience Day took place focusing on the question “Are you flood Ready” as a part of ‘Responsible Business Week‘. Hosted by Business In The Community’s (BITC) Business Emergency Resilience Group (BERG), this event was held at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in Watford.
Technical presentations were showcased from various experts, representing both public and private sector bodies within the flood industry. These included presentations from DEFRA (Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs), BERG, Guy Carpenter and many more. There was a key focus on flood resilience and the products that will be of benefit to home and business owners in flood risk areas around the UK. This included live demonstration testing of some of these as hosted by several companies, and exhibitor stands for product suppliers to showcase the latest technologies.
Live technical demonstrations allowed user engagement and enhanced understanding of the measures that should be taken for properties in flood risk areas. Further to this, presentations were given on the roles of technology and drones in data capture, and aerial drone demonstrations to showcase the potential abilities of these.
The event also included a tour of the BRE Flood Resilient Repair House.
