National Flood Forum

The National Flood Forum is a national charity dedicated to supporting and representing communities and individuals at risk of flooding.

This is accomplished by:

  • Supporting people to prepare for flooding to prevent it or mitigate its impacts.
  • Helping people to recover their lives if they have been flooded.
  • Campaigning on behalf of flood risk communities by working with government and agencies to ensure that their concerns are properly addressed.

How the National Flood Forum can help

  1. Supporting community flood groups and the work that they do to reduce their flood risk. We support groups to work with partner agencies and authorities to ensure their voices are heard.
  2. Helping communities to recover from flooding for as long as it takes.
  3. Providing a telephone help line for all flood related enquiries including insurance.
  4. Providing information and guidance through our website and our regular supporters bulletin, which anyone can sign up to receive via our website.
  5. Providing flood surgeries and exhibitions to help people with flood-related problems and to raise awareness of who we are and how we can help.
  6. Training for local authorities, agencies and the voluntary sector.
  7. Running Blue Pages, a directory of products to help people at risk of flooding.
  8. Championing issues and challenges faced by those at risk of flooding to ensure government and those that work within the flooding sector – including business, industry, academics, charities and policy makers – are all aware of the key problems that those at grassroots face.

On our website you can also use the Property Protection Advisor.  The Property Protection Advisor’ has been developed to highlight that cost-effective products exist that can help people to reduce the damaging impacts of flooding.  It allows the user to enter a few simple details about their property and produces a personalised report outlining the level of risk and the typical costs of property level protection measures for their home.  The report helps raise awareness about the range of measures available and provides information and further advice on how to proceed and on how to sign up for the Environment Agency’s free flood warning service.
